Volunteering at the Worlds
Whilst the Worlds is about crowning the next World Champions, it is also about fun, friendship, and our love of paddling.
If you would like to be involved but are not planning on paddling, we would love you to become part of the team and volunteer and be a part of this amazing event.
We are seeking volunteers in the following areas;
Event Administration and Support – The Event Administration will be open from 9-12pm from Monday 27 November through to Friday 1 December. It will also be open from 3pm to 6pm Monday 27 November to Wednesday 29 November.
The role would be to assist paddlers in registering and pick up race packs, answer general inquiries and ensure competitors, particularly our international friends, have access to all the information they need to have a great time.
Event Logistics and Shuttle Services – Whilst the event will be utilising the services of Coastal Cruising for shuttles, given the number of paddlers, we will need help coordinating the paddlers as well as people that are comfortable to tow a trailer if needed or have the ability to drive a small bus. (MR or HR licence is required.)
These services will run between 12pm and 3.30pm from Monday 27 November through until Thursday 30 November.
Race Day Officials
We are also seeking volunteers to help at the start of the races. This role includes ensuring competitors have all their safety equipment and timing chips and get started in the right divisions.
Time requirements for the start line officials are
- Thursday 30 November Doubles Championships 1.30pm to 3.30pm
- Saturday 2 December Singles Championships 11am – 2.30pm
Please note that race times and dates are subject to change. The above times are our proposed times unless conditions determine we need to adjust. This will be locked in at the start of the World Championship week.
Finish Line Officials
Finish line support is needed for the following times;
- Thursday 30 November Doubles Championships 2.30pm to 5.30pm
- Saturday 2 December Singles Championships 2.00pm – 5.00pm
On Land safety Team
We are looking for 4 volunteers to be part of the safety team to be located along the course to work with the Event Safety and Emeregncy Coordinator. This is across both race days.
Opening Ceremony Coordinator
The Opening Ceremony is taking place on Thursday 30 November at 5.30pm at the Scarborough Amphitheatre. We are looking for a couple of volunteers to help coordinate the Parade of Nations.
So if you would like to be involved please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or fill in the form on this page.
