Paddle Australia is excited to announce the City of Stirling as the Principal Partner for the ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships.

The City of Stirling recently approved $50,000 sponsorship of the event as well as $70,000 funding towards activitations in and around Scarborough beachfront throughout the Championships.

Mayor Mark Irwin said the 2023 is another opportunity to showcase the $100 million Scarborough foreshore as a world class venue.

“The 2022/23 summer of sport was a series of blockbuster events and opportunities for the City of Stirling, with the 2023 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships recently held at Scarborough and Trigg and the Perth Glory Summer Series held at Macedonia Park, and next summer is set to continue this sporting spectacular,” he said.

“We are thrilled to be kicking off plans for the 2023/24 summer season by supporting the ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships. With the championships to follow The Shaw and Partners Doctor ski race on Saturday 25 November, the combined impact of these major events is hoped to bring in almost $3 million for the local economy thanks to an estimated 2,000 attendees expected to stay in the area for up to 10 days.”

Paddle Australia CEO Phil Jones said “We are thrilled to be partnering with the City of Stirling to deliver this event. The City’s investment will ensure the delivery of a successful opening ceremony, athlete’s village, water safety and first aid support, transport and volunteer support.”
